One of the best things to do in Social Media

One of the best things to do in Social Media: Use your avatar and your name wisely.

Stick to only one name for all Social Media platforms, people will recognize you better and faster. Talking about being recognized put your face on your avatar, and stick to one single photo to use on them all, preferably a professional shot. Beach shots, you riding your bike or your dog giving you a kiss are not consider professional, unless you are a dog walker, or a professional beach volleyball player. Let people recognize you by what you do best and by your profession.

Having a picture of yourself also helps during networking events, it may be a good idea to print a badge with the same image or logo that you use on Social Media, that can be useful on an event, but you may need to use it all the time, in every situation, even in restaurants; why complicating things, when your face is easy to recognize? And if your Twitter image is an Egg, then you just fall down two notches. Be recognizable! By your accomplishments; your expertise and your knowledge, but also in the flesh.

My Social Media Name is always LuisLondon. What is your Social media Avatar and Name?

A logo may be used if you represent a company. In Social media mostly everyone represent their own. In your case since you have a personal and a professional profile then using your photo on your personal is the best, like you do. It is smart to be sure that people link you to your company, in your case it is your name, so it helps for sure.

I guess is best if people recognize you as Ray, from NewRayCom. Like some will recognize Pepe Gomez From Sun Microsystems.

    Very good points, Luis.
What do you suggest someone do when they have two Twitter profiles, one personal, the other their company (brand)?
Does it pay to have the logo recognized or is it still better that people know what you look like?

I recently changed me newraycom avatar to the logo until I get a better photo. Unfortunately, there’s not enough room on an avatar for both.
